Description
Style : Light-bodied, crisp, and mineral-driven. Bursting with citrus, white flowers, and salty ocean breezes, with a zippy acidity that makes it incredibly refreshing.
Producer: Bodegas Tajinaste (Agustn Garca Farrais)
Grape : 90% Listn Blanco and 10% Albillo Criollo
Place : Valle de La Orotava, Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain
Story : Nestled on the rugged volcanic slopes of Tenerife, Bodegas Tajinaste is a family-run estate dedicated to showcasing the unique character of the Canary Islands. Winemaker Agustn Garca Farrais works with Listn Blanco, an indigenous variety perfectly suited to the islands extreme terroir. The vines, many of them over a century old, grow in black volcanic soils at high altitudes, cooled by Atlantic winds.
For the 2023 ‘Blanco Seco’ – a bit over half of the fruit is grown at 500m of altitude, with the rest grown at 250m. Hand-harvested and carried to the winery in small 15kg boxes to avoid damaging the berries. Agustn vinifies each parcel separately in tanks. One-fifth is aged in French barrels for 2-3 months.
Pairing : Shrimp ceviche with lime, avocado, and a touch of fresh cilantro.
Distributor: Bowler Wine
