Description

Overview of the Wine
Philippe and Pierre Aubry run their family estate in the Premier Cru village of Jouy-ls-Reims, located in the western part of the Montagne de Reims. The family traces its wine growing to 1790 and is well-known for growing ancient grape varieties still permitted in the Champagne AOC. Aubrys wines are original and individual, representing flavors that fall outside the typical profile of Champagne.

Tasting Notes
Aubry makes a great case for Champagnes historic varieties, which include little-known Petit Meslier,
Arbanne, and Fromenteau. These grapes make up just five percent of the classic blend of Pinots Meunierand Noir with Chardonnay. This elegant wine is copper-laden and snappy with mineraled classic depth, light floral honey aromas, and dark notes of crackers, toasted bread, and pepper.

92 Points – James Suckling
A smooth, gently round and nicely balanced Champagne dominant in pinot meunier, pinot noir and chardonnay to boot. It has attractive lemon citrus flavors and is really punchy, refined and gently nutty. A smooth, pastry-like texture comes to the fore on the finish. Drink now.

91 Points – Wine Spectator
A distinctive Champagne, structured by firm acidity and lightly wooly in texture, with notes of whole-wheat toast, dried raspberry, candied orange peel and hints of fresh chamomile and thyme. Minerally finish. Pinot Meunier, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Disgorged July 2023. Drink now through 2026. 3,750 cases imported.
